One could easily mistake the restaurant for serving Western food, but don’t let the appearance fool you. In Colonial is actually a restaurant specialized in serving Chinese food.

They have a few set meals that you can chppse from but here’s sharing what we managed to try during their Ramadan media preview:

A platter of appetizer: Swiss Spring Rolls, Shrimp Ravioli, Mango Prawn Rolls, Noodlefish with Salt and Chilli and last but not least, Beef and Chicken Skewers.

Here’s some of the chef recommended dishes that we manage to try that day: In Colonial Black Pepper Rib Eye Cubes, Steamed Sea Garoupa in Lemon Juice, Admiral Butter Tiger Prawns, Padprik Veggies, Claypot Oysters and Seafood, and last but not least, Golden Brown Minced Garlic Scallops.

Steamed Sea Garoupa in Lemon Juice is rather refreshing and the fish have no fishy smell whatsoever. Quite a pleasant dish to have on it’s own or pair it with rice.

Admiral Butter Tiger Prawns. Succulent, fresh prawns with oceanic flavours still intact. Perfectly flavoured and not overly done that it drowns the naturally flavours.

Padprik Vege. Nothing to complain and nothing to shout about. We think that the dish is rather ordinary.

Claypot Oysters and Seafood was sensational. Everyone at the table seems to love this dish.

Golden Brown Minced Garlic Scallops is another favourite that night. The scallops was fresh and well-seasoned.

We had these to wash our food with. Some fancy fruit juices.

We ended our meal with this, herbal jelly with honey.

Overall, the meal satiated our appetite and for the coming Ramadan 2015, In Colonial Restaurant is offering sets similar to what we had for RM80 per pax. Quite a good deal for such satisfying meal.
